Crew Pickleball Academy
The Crew Pickleball Academy is a structured, high-energy development program designed to help young players improve faster, build confidence, and compete with players of similar ages and skill levels.
When we launched Crew Pickleball Club, our primary goal was simple: create more opportunities for young players to actually play meaningful matches. Too often, players participate in clinics or casual play without consistent competition. The Academy solves this problem by combining structured coaching, match play, and progression into one complete system.
Our mission is to build the most impactful youth pickleball development program in the region - one that players love and parents trust.
The Crew Academy Pathway
The Crew Pickleball Academy is designed as a long-term development pathway with three levels. Players progress based on development, effort, and readiness.
Crew Academy is the foundation of our program and where the majority of players begin. At launch, we will start all players at this level.
This level focuses on:
-
Skill development in a structured, fun environment
-
Consistent match play with similar players
-
Building confidence and game awareness
-
Developing competitive instincts
Crew Academy is designed to be structured, but fun. Players improve quickly while building friendships and enjoying the competitive experience.
As we progress to steady-state, approximately 80% of our players will participate at this level.

What Makes Crew Academy Different
The Crew Pickleball Academy is built around four core pillars.
1. Structured Development
Unlike one-off clinics, the Academy follows a structured development model.
Players receive:

Increased confidence

Our coaches focus on player development, positive coaching, competitive preparation, and building confidence. All coaches are trained on Crew’s coaching philosophy and development approach.
What to Expect When You Join
Here’s exactly what happens from the moment you enroll through your first month.
Step 1: Enroll and Select Your Sessions
During registration, you’ll have the option to rank your top 4 weekly training sessions from the available schedule. Once selected, we will do our best to hold those sessions for your player for the full 4-week session - no need to re-register each week. We will confirm dates and times within 48 hours of registration.
Step 2: What to Bring on Day One
Your player should arrive ready to move. Here’s what to bring:
-
Paddle - if you don’t have one yet, loaner paddles are available. We’ll help you find the right fit as you get started.
-
Athletic shoes - court shoes are ideal. Running shoes work fine to start.
-
Water bottle - sessions are 90 minutes and move fast. Staying hydrated matters.
-
Comfortable athletic clothes - anything you can move freely in.
Step 3: Your First Session
Every session follows the same structure so players always know what to expect. A typical 90-minute Academy session looks like this:
-
Warm-Up (10 min) - dynamic movement, dinking, and court feel
-
Skill Focus (25 min) - one technique introduced (or reviewed) and coached in depth (e.g., third shot drops, reset dinks, transitions, serve mechanics)
-
Game-Based Drills (20 min) - competitive drills that apply the skill in realistic game situations
-
Match Play (25 min) - structured matches against players of similar skill. Scores kept, coaches observing.
-
Recap (10 min) - coach-led debrief, individual feedback, and one takeaway for the week
Step 4: Your First Monthly Assessment
At the end of each 4-week session, coaches complete a written assessment for every player covering skill development, game awareness, effort, and recommended next steps. You’ll receive this by email within a few days of the session closing. If you have questions or want to discuss your player’s development, we encourage you to reach out directly - we’re always available.
