Afterschool Program FAQs
If you’re interested in bringing our afterschool pickleball program to your school or facility, reach out to us at thecrew@crewpickle.com. We’d love to discuss how we can set up a program that works for your students!
Yes, we are fully insured, and proof of insurance is available upon request.
No, Crew Pickleball Club does not provide transportation at this time.
If we can, we’ll move the session indoors. If that’s not an option, we’ll schedule a make-up session at the end of the program or on another available day.
We are very flexible on class size. Our main dependency is available space and we generally keep a low student-to-coach ratio (around 8–12 students per coach and court) to provide plenty of hands-on instruction. If we have access to multiple courts, we can accommodate larger groups while still ensuring personal attention for each student.
Our instructors are passionate, experienced pickleball players and many are certified coaches who love working with kids. We have a wide range of talent including full-time professionals, teachers, retirees, college students, and more. They’re carefully selected and background-checked to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Students are welcome to bring their own paddle, but we are happy to provide a paddle if needed. Beyond paddles, we provide all the necessary equipment, including balls, nets, and training aids. Students only need to bring:
✔ Comfortable athletic shoes
✔ A water bottle
✔ A positive attitude!
Absolutely! Our coaching approach makes pickleball easy to learn, and we group students by skill level so everyone feels comfortable. We welcome both beginners and experienced players, ensuring that each student progresses at their own pace.
Our sessions are held at schools, recreation centers, and community spaces that have the appropriate space for pickleball. We can work with both indoor and outdoor locations, setting up temporary court spaces if needed.
Typically, students meet once a week for 6–8 weeks at their school or a nearby facility, where our coaches guide them through skill-building drills, games, and friendly matches. We are flexible in scheduling so just let us know what works best for you. Sessions include:
Warm-ups & Movement Drills to improve footwork
Skill Training (serving, dinking, volleys, and strategy)
Game Play & Mini Tournaments to put skills into action
Team-Building & Sportsmanship Activities
The program is designed to keep students active, engaged, and improving—regardless of their experience level!
Our afterschool pickleball program is designed to introduce students to the game in a fun, structured, and active way. Whether kids are brand new to the sport or looking to sharpen their skills, we focus on teaching fundamentals, improving coordination, and building confidence—all while making sure they have a blast! Crew Pickleball Club partners with schools, non-profit organizations, community centers, and more to bring the game to young players. Best of all, we come to you and bring everything needed to create an unmatched experience for students!

Academy FAQs
Crew Pickleball Academy is designed for players ages 10–18 who want to develop their pickleball skills in a structured, fun, and competitive environment.
The Academy is appropriate for:
Beginners who want structured instruction and development but are able to play a point without help from start to finish
Intermediate players looking to improve consistency and strategy
Competitive players preparing for tournaments and advanced play
Our goal is to create a clear development pathway for all players, regardless of starting level.
Players of all levels are welcome, but we do want the player to be able to serve, return, and play a point without assistance. Players are grouped based on skill level, experience, and development goals to ensure appropriate instruction and a positive learning environment. As players improve, they may move between groups to match their development.
Players train twice per week in structured 90-minute sessions, for a minimum of 12 hours per month. We will also offer “flex” classes that you will able to attend to make up classes or get more hours in a month.
Players select their preferred training sessions at the beginning of each monthly session. These sessions are reserved for them throughout the month.
Parents select their preferred training sessions before each monthly session begins. Once selected, those sessions are reserved for the player for the full 4-week session.
This structure allows:
Consistent coaching and development
Predictable schedules for families
Stronger player progression
Make-up sessions may be available if a player misses a scheduled session, based on availability.
Our training sessions are designed to balance skill development and match play.
Typical session structure:
40–50% Skill Development & Drills
30–40% Competitive Games & Match Play
10–20% Strategy, Coaching, and Feedback
As players advance, more time is spent on:
Match play
Strategy
Tournament preparation
Competitive scenarios
Our goal is to ensure players are both improving skills and applying them in real-game situations.
Yes. Match play is a core component of the Academy.
Players will participate in:
Structured match play during sessions
Competitive drills and games
Internal Academy matches
Potential league play (as the program grows)
Tournament preparation matches
Match play increases as players develop and progress.
Yes. Crew Pickleball Academy uses PB Vision software to help analyze player performance and provide feedback. There is no cost to families for this service.
This may include:
Video analysis of match play
Shot selection review
Positioning and movement feedback
Strategy and decision-making insights
This technology helps players improve faster and gives them clear, actionable feedback.
Yes. Our curriculum is meant to prepare players for all types of competitions from drop-in play to leagues and tournaments. We will offer specific “tournament preparation sessions” as an additional service (not included in the Academy) for players and teams. But, the Academy itself will prepare players interested in competition from day 1. Our goal is to help players feel confident and prepared when entering competition.
Yes. While we can’t promise there will be a great fit, we actively help players find appropriate partners within the Academy.
We consider:
Skill level
Playing style
Development goals
Availability
Helping players find partners is part of building a strong Academy community.
Yes. As the Academy grows, we plan to offer:
Internal Academy leagues
Ladder competitions
Match play days
Competitive team events
These opportunities will help players gain match experience and track development.
That is our hope! Crew Pickleball Club works with schools and community organizations throughout the area. Players may have opportunities to:
Participate in school-based programs
Join school teams (as available)
Participate in inter-school matches (future goal)
Represent Crew in community events
Our long-term goal is to help grow youth pickleball across schools and communities.
Yes. Players may move between levels based on development, effort, and readiness.
We regularly evaluate players and adjust placement to ensure:
Appropriate challenge
Continued development
Positive experience
Movement between groups is a normal part of player development.
