Lesson Description

The Crew Pickleball afterschool program at University School of the Lowcountry is a fun, active way for students to learn and play pickleball with their classmates. Who can participate? The program is open to students of all skill levels in grades 3-8, from kids picking up a paddle for the first time to players who already know the game. What will students do? Each session combines instruction, skill-building activities, games, and plenty of time to play. Our coaches focus on pickleball fundamentals including serving, returning, movement, shot control, scoring, and game play, while also helping students build confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Does my child need pickleball experience? Not at all. Beginners are welcome and will learn the basics in a supportive environment. More experienced players will have opportunities to improve their skills and compete in games appropriate for their level. What should my child bring? Students can wear school uniforms and will need athletic shoes appropriate for playing on a court. They are welcome to bring their own pickleball paddle, but it is not required. Crew will provide paddles and all other equipment for students who need it. What is the goal of the program? Most importantly, to have fun. We want students to be active, spend time with friends, learn a sport they can enjoy for years, and leave each session excited to come back. Whether your child is brand new to pickleball or already loves to play, Crew provides a positive, encouraging environment where every student can participate, improve, and have a great time.
